Urgent ! Need speedometer
Hi over there!
Because my mechanic told me today, that some cogwheels in my speedometer have worn out (those for the odometers), and there is no way to replace them, I'm facing an interchange of the instrument.
Now I found out, that it is quite difficult, to get a new old speedo from the known vendors, so my question goes to you:
Is there anybody who wants to sell me a functional speedometer for my '69 427/400 Vette for a reasonable price?
Please let me know soon, because I need my car functionally back for a vintage-car-rallye quite soon.

The reason that you're having a hard time finding a speedometer or parts is that AC-Delco has stopped supplying most of the parts for these old mechanical speedomters and other gauges. It seems that when DELPHI was "spun off" from GM as a seperate company, they, apparently, started making business decisions regarding what parts to continue making. Parts for these old units didn't "make the cut", so they're gone.
You might contact Corvette Clocks by Roger; he advertises in many of the Corvette Magazines. Roger rebuilds these units but I undertstand that he's a victim of the "parts shortage" like everyone else. The last I heard, he was looking for a new source for speedo, tach, and small gauge parts. Perhaps, he's found one by now. I certainly hope so.
