Default Cam& head gurus.

I've got a stock 82 crossfire collector Edition. The only thing that isn't as GM put it together is true dual exahust(no cat)I'm looking at getting some more touque(sp)bottom end.So with that said what kind of cam and heads will work with the x-fire setup.I really don't want to change the origanilty of the car because it's just too damm nice and has real low miles.Bubba has not got to this car and I want to keep it that way.Or is there just a cam swap that will give me some more umph.Don't want a 10 second screamer just a little more than I have.Oh I forgot one thing.I bought the car from the second owner and he had the knowladge that the early 700R4's had a reliabilty problem so he had the trans rebuilt using the new service replacement parts. While he was at it he did have a shift kit installed. It shifts real strong and solid. There I think I covered everything so as to give everybody and idea of what I have to work with.Sorry this is such a long post

I have read that the crossfire system its self is probably going to be one of your limiting factors. My advice would be an engine swap. Any way atleast we will get you ttt.

The crossfire injection forum may help more.

If you want to keeps it's originality, then probly pulling it apart down to the block isn't the best idea.

Why not put your current engine on a stand, and buy a crate? This would probly be the smartest hp per dollar investment and defintly have the most fun factor to it. Then, when you want to sell it, put the original back in. Trust me, I ripped out the crossfire of my 82 and Im never looking back

A few years ago I was in the same situation as you. Mine was also stock with the exception of true dual exhaust and and a shift kit installed. I replaced the cam with a crane 2030 computer friendly one and it made one hell of a difference with low end grunt. I have gone quite a bit further with mods since then but I sure remember the improvement that cam made the first time I got on it.

The Crossfire is hampered in proformance by a few items such as intake, heads, cam and exhaust but other than that it is your basic tried and true small block chevy engine.

The Crossfire injection forum covers these engines and cars with valuable information.
