Air Gap Performer
Thanks

A future goal might be a complete L88 setup:
The L88 cold air system works very well if you want to go that route to pull fresh cold air from the windshield area. This would require a few more components (cold air box, L88 hood, L88 air cleaner, L88 screen, L88 foam, and L88 dropbase).

Is there a sale on the RPM Air Gap? seem to be a hot topic right now:

I would tend to disagree. Most NASCAR engines run a dropbase configuration, knowing that is a little more than what we are discussing here. But your still running a 3" aircleaner. Was the tech implying your AIR FLOW was impeded?.

The "standard small block" hood has limited clearance on 68-72.
The Performer 2101 is supposed to be about 1/4" taller than stock.
Weiand Action+ is supposed to be about 3/8" taller than stock.
Performer Air-Gap & EPS about 1/4" taller than Performer 2101.
Carb CFM & the setup should be taken into consideration also.
You should state carb CFM & the setup.
While Cobaltblue 72 did not mention the RPM:
2 Stuffing a RPM under there at any cost & restricting intake is not a great idea as one should consider the entire flow path & affect on the carb. which is probably why Edelbrock says the RPM will not fit under (stock SB 68-72) hood. 2" dropbase is somewhat restrictive.
The aftermarket dropbase filters actually flow very well.
The RPM is about .7" taller than 2101.
The 73-79 med. rise hood allows the Victor Jr, RPM & others on SB w/ aftermarket dropbase filter & Holley.
