diff mount question

I have new differential poly bushings. the steel insert from the original rubber bushing (far right) will not fit thru the center of the bushing in the middle of the picture. do I drill it larger or possible soak it in hot water?

I used standard rubber bushings for the front diff support. The rubber bushing had a steel sleeve already in it that the bolt just slid thru. I know this doesn't help your situation; but I wouldn't think you would have to drill the bushing to accept the sleeve you have. Can you press the sleeve into the bushing or is it too big. My '79 did not have that type of sleeve.

mine is a 71. it is just a little to small. I am not sure if the poly will loosen up if heated. the bushings are from prothane and it only had those two pieces.

If you can't force it on, I can't see any reason drilling it out to fit would be a problem. I used a rubber bushing on top ant the poly below (the compression side).
