Is anyone using nitrogen instead of air in your tires? I have heard that it decreases tire temps and keeps pressure longer. Is it worth the xtra 5 bucks?
don't know where you live, but if all they want is $5, go for it. it reduces temp, doesn't expand and contract as badly as regular O2, is retained in the tire much better than regular air, NASCAR has been using it in their race cars for the past couple of years. if the price is right, it certainly can't hurt.
seems like a waste of money to me i used to use it at the track in my drag bike tires but only because it was there for my airshifter anyhow. can't see it making any difference in your street car tires.
why not helium? lift potential? only kidding but since i started, why not nitrous? if you get a blow out at least you'll be laughing. sorry, sick dentist humor.
nitrogen molecules are larger than air and therefore don't permeate through the tire so you don't have to check the rpessure as often, also it's "dry" so there's less pressure change with temperature. I say go for it.
Since air is about 80% nitrogen anyway, I'm betting any benefit is from being dry.

We use it in the slicks on our funny car, it's much more stable then air. As far as using it on a street car, if it's only a little extra I'd give it a try.
I've been using it for years. Nitrogen doesn't change as much in pressure with temp changes. Here in the southwest US pavement temps canbecome severe in the summer when the air temp exceeds 120 without a cloud in the sky. I don't even go down to Laughlin Neveda in the summer anymore. Las Vegas might be only 110 -112 F Laughlin was 124. My Vette without A/C is terrible

You guys don't have anything better to worry about?

There is a local tire store around here advertising better gas mileage out of the nitrogen fill. They will do the fill for $5 per tire also. I don't know anyone that has done it though.
If it was proven that nitrogen really did improve gas mileage, I'm sure the automakers would be using it on all new cars, so they could post higher MPG on their window stickers.
