Since it seems so many people are redoing their rear ends right now, I hope someone will know the answer to this. I'm replacing the T-arm bushings along with a bunch of other things on the rear end and I'm staying with the rubber bushings because of what I have read about the poly bushings not allowing the arm to twist properly, but the rubber bushing kit from ecklers doesn't come with the flaring tool that I've seen in the poly kits to install the inner sleeve properly.
My question is how have other people gone about installing the bushing/sleeve. Is there a tool I could find(cheap) at an auto parts store, or am I better off just taking them somewhere that has the right equipment?
I know the sleeve needs to be flared to hold the busings in place, My question was on how to actually do that. I want to do this right and if it's not something that I can do with some basic shop tools, I have no problem taking it to a specialty shop. I'd just like to save some cash if there's a simpler way.

A special tool just for that function...doubt you can do it with what you have.
THERE IS A TOOL WHICH is basicaly a press which squeezes the bushing together and holds it while you flare the end. it is two pieces of steel with a hole in each just the size of the inner diameter of the ''washer'' which is where the pressure is applied to compress. the tool is taped in each corner with a bolt that is tightened in sequence to do the pressing

I took 2 pieces of 5/8 steel, milled them into 2 twin pieces, center drilled and tapped the center for a 3/4 set screw, turned the screw to 45* angle, drilled and tapped the 4 corners of the plate to clamp it on the arms while I turn the flared screw to flare it.
I've seen similar ones for sale only they use a flared rod to hammer the flare into place. For a 1 time deal have a shop do it.
I too made my own tool but is it really worth the trouble. No way you can do it with just a bolt, that is what they send with the new bushing and claim it works.
You need to either make a tool and just go and have a person with the tool do it. To have it done takes only a few minutes so the charge shouldn't be that great.
