Default Possible Clutch Replacement?

As a result of an earlier post I'm thinking that there is a very good possibility
that I need a new clutch. If so is this a do it yourself project and any tips
would be appreciated. How much for parts? Any upgrades to be considered?

Replacing a clutch is definetly a DIY job, although a major PITA. If you have the GM service manual you can follow that. I don't think you can change the clutch without dropping the transmission (at least I haven't been able to do it any other way). It requires a fairly systematic approach starting with disconnecting all the transmission connections including the linkage. I put a Centerforce clutch on my 66 and my neighbor put one on his 73 454. We are both happy with the results. While the transmission is out you can use this opportunity to change the throwout bearing, check the condition of the driveshaft u-joints, and the transmission seals. I replaced all of that stuff since the transmission was out and I didn't want to have to do it again later.
