Default Piston ring gap

I have a 383 stroker in my 76 vette that has been using a little oil for awhile now. So... I decided to have the heads rebuilt (done) and while waiting for that I pulled all pistons to verify what the rings look like. I do not find any problems but the guy who rebuilt my heads recommended re-honing the cylinders and installing new rings. The engine is bored 060 over and I am trying to determine the correct ring gap. Any suggestions?

I would follow the manufacture's specs, usually around .0004" per 1" of bore, so a 4.060 bore would require a ~.0016 ring gap. The .0004 is just an example, follow the ring manufacture's (or your builder's) recommendation.

Default 389"

... and ...
Sixty over ... 4.060" bore x 3.75" stroke = 389".
Thirty over ... 4.030" bore x 3.75" stroke = 383".

Any set of rings you buy will have the manufacturer's end gap recommednation in the box. Follow the manufacturer's spec. They're all a little different, so you can't get a spec number by polling for suggestions.
