Default Help with BB heads

I'm building a bbc 454 +.30 with flat top pistons. I have a nice set of oval port heads #3986133. I know their are truck heads, but I can not find the chamber size. I have looked in many places but they just give year and what they were used on. Before I can order my hyd. roller cam I have to know a approx. size to figure out compression. I have a similar problem with the pistons. I will post a new thread on that.

By truck heads do you mean the so called Peanut Port oval ports? If so probably about 122-128ccs. Do you know what kind of truck they came off of?

NO not peanut. Large oval ports. No I don't know what they were on. The person I got them from was using them on a drag motor. I know they were used on the years form 68-90.

You could always CC them yourself, Its no too hard just use a syringe and a piece of clear plastic or you can still ball park it with out the plastic. Insert the spark plug for alittle more accuracy.

That's what I would do. I bet about 110 cc. The addition of the 2.19 and 1.88 exhuast would help those heads.
They are better then you think and with a little port work, the larger valves and they would out perform the rectangular heads on the street.
The late Lingenfelter claimed they were good up to about 600 horse.

I don't think so?? Better remeasure. I don't even think a 1.95 exhuast could be fit.

Very impressive for a truck head or any other head. Someone did a great job of installing oversize vavles.
