Default Hazard button

In 75 coupe with tilt and telescoping wheel ther is a hole for the hazard ****. However when I try to install it seems that there is nothing to attach to inside the column.

Shy of taking the beast apart. Is there any way to tell if there is a hazard switch mechanism in there?

Could it have shifted?

I appreciate the help!!

Your T&T column has a stamped metal lever about 5 inches long that should press into the bottom of your turn signal switch. It then extends down into your column head. There will be a tapped hole in the part right where it passes the hole where the hazard **** is supposed to attach. If you take the steering wheel, locking plate, and move the turn signal switch out of the way, sometimes you might be extremely lucky to find the lever resting down inside your column. Otherwise you might have to contact a column rebuilder like www.steeringcolumnsgalore.com and purchase a new lever.

You can find instructions on taking your T&T column apart by downloading the following.

http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-co...ge1-12FE06.doc

BTW, I updated picture #2 on page #1 to include the hazard switch lever last night. (You will note yesterday's revision date of 12FE06 just above.) That is the problem trying to make generic pictures work for all tilt and T&T columns.

Jim

You might get lucky. I was putting in a new turn signal switch and when I pulled back on the wires, the lever came out of the column and dropped into my lap. You a magnetic retriever might also work if it's fallen down into the column.

Note, I have updated my posting above. Picture #2 on page 1 now includes the hazard switch lever.
