Resto Advice
1.) I will be upgrading the entire vette with a suspension package. Was leaning towards the performance plus package with front and rear monoleaf springs, heavy duty upper and lower front a-arms, all poly bushings front and rear, blistine shocks, control arms ect. I've heard the front monoleaf rides rough when compared to semicoilovers or traditional springs even though the front transverse spring has 8 adjustable settings. Any thoughts?
2.) I will also be replacing the body mounts with graphite injected poly mounts and #4 needs a new body reinforcement plate.
During these projects I am planning on wirebrushing any surface rust I can find, clean and paint so I have no worries in the near future of rust. I will attempt this on the frame, rear differential cross memeber, trailing arms and as much of the front as I can get at. Any recommendations on primer/paint to apply to these areas to avoid any concern of future corrosion? I've been reading about POR-15 by Restomotive Laboratories. There are a few steps to this product but basically you can prime and paint right over the rust (even though I would remove as much as humanly possible first) Anyone use this stuff or any other stuff on their frames or suspension?
Next question deals with insulation and sound proofing. What floor/door insulation have you guys had success with? I'd like to insulate the entire floor under the carpet and some in the door as sidepipes will be forethcoming in the near future. Midamerica and Covette Central all offer their "kits" but I'd like what really works. I've seen spray on insulation or precut. Any advice.
Thanks Gotta get this bad boy ready for the warm pavement.

1. POR 15 is UV sensitive, so if its gonna see sunlight put a top coat over it
2. Be absolutly certian you close the lid tightly, when done. the stuff will turn into concrete goo if air gets to it while in the can, and youll have to get more. Has to do with the chemical make up of the stuff.
Also they offer a product called metal ready, which is a self etching cleaner/ primer you can use on your freshly cleaned parts. while you can paint right over the rust ( and ive done it more that once) taking the extra step gives better final results.
Changing the body mounts on a 68 is a great idea, as they are solid and transmit everything to the driver, as fars as the VBP composite conversion goes, there are numerours threads available
Also let me know how the suspension upgrade goes, we 68er's got to stick together
Good luck
Tim
