stroking could cause problems with a 2-bolt, but some people swear by 2-bolts through about 500/500. personally, i'd use a 4-bolt block or at least use the conversion caps and get them machined in.

No I don't think you can just buy the HP at Jegs or Summit. It takes a lot of work and tuning to get to 500 HP. Looking at your combo it is not a whole lot different then mine. Yea you have a roller cam and 20 more CI than me and you are at 546 HP. Why is it that you think I will not make 500 HP.
Gordonm I should have broke up my third paragrah, I am bad/good at making run on setences and paragraphs for that matter. The first part of the third paragraph was not amed at you specifically. And if you read on I am stating that I am hoping you do break 500HP

Certainly no offense taken. I'll keep you informed of what it comes out as. I should really have some head porting done but my budget this year is wayyy shot.
I just installed my 383 today. One problem I ran into during the build was clearancing the rods to the cam, I only had .030" clearance at two rods (can't remember which ones), should be .050" minimum, I had to grind about .020" of the bolt heads and side of the rods, I already had the assembly balanced so I'm hoping things still work out, I know they make a small base cam but they are expensive. If I ever want to advance, retard or go with a bigger cam I'll have to tear it all down and rework this again.

Small base circle cams are no more expensive than standard base circle cams.
