Default Good Evening...

Hows it going everyone...just wanted to get your opinion on some new headers. My shop is going to have to replace them, and told me it was going to run me about 1500, but they didn't know which headers I wanted. I don't know what headers I want either. I do know that much of my mid range torque comes from the headers, so I would love to get some good stuff. Please give me your input . Thanks!

Daniel

1500.00? Yikes...dude, you're being taken to the cleaners, and hung out to dry.

You have two choices, under chassis or side mounts...if you choose side mounts, you can install those yourself. In fact, you can install under chassis as well.

I assume you don't own any wrenches?

What kind did they quote you? Can you buy the parts yourself and let them install? That's high, The most expensive undercar headers I've seen to date are stainless steel at $650.00.
If he's quoting you that price, he doesn't want to do the job.

$1500 is too much, way too much. Get a good set of equal length name brand coated headers with relatively small primaries. Should cost you $300-$500. They should also include the pipes that go through the cross member.

Yeah I don't own any wrenches...I've moved into a ity bity apartment...so...I did think that was high. The problem I've been having is I lose comrpession off and on and they mentioned my gaskets and **** would need to be changed...plus headers. This is all kinda foreign to me. Anyways, if any one can post links to good quality stuff that would awesome.

Thanks so far!

Losing compression has absolutely nothing to do with exhaust manifolds, headers, etc. Loose or worn exhaust manifold gaskets will just make it sound like crap. I think you should find another shop...

Sure they didn't say heads and not headers? If they're talking about compression and gaskets I would think they are talking about head gaskets.

You really need to get a list of exactly what they are going to do-with part numbers. This will tell alot about the price, but we gotta know this first. 1500 for a "head-job" (no pun intended) could be a fair price, could be a great price or could be highway robbery. Gather the info and post it or pm one of us and we'll be glad to help out.

$1500 for a set of heads installed is a very typical price...
