Default Heater vent

Drove the vete today and again it seemed to be hot inside with air blowing on my foot . I put my hand down by the heater floor vent while driving and there was hot air blowing from it. The air blows only while moving which would indicate that a door flap is not shuting but I am not sure of the proper way to repair it or if there may be another problem I am missing. There was recently a post on this subject and some members have experienced this problem themselves. Does anyone have any ideas where to start on this?

Thanks!!!

On my 79 the blower motor is always running cause there is no off switch. If u look at the switch that controls the fan speed and move it up so it is closest to the winshield on the side of the switch it will say HI but if u move the switch down furthest away from the winshield and look at the side of the switch it says LOW.What I do every summer is open the hood and with the key on u should be able to hear the blower motor running. There is a silver relay on the passanger side right next to the switch that sets off the alarm if the hood was open. There are 2 plugs connected to this relay. The top plug has 2 wires and the bottom plug I believe has 3 wires. With the ignition key on and the blower motor on if u disconnect the top plug from the relay the blower motor should turn off.Let me know how u make out

I don't believe the heater motor is blowing due to no air while sitting still. The air blows only while in motion driving and seems to be free flowing air through the floor heater vent at that time. I do believe there is a heater vent flap not closing or opening etc. Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks!!!

it does sound like you have a door open, check vacume lines but i also would install a coolant line shut off valve.the factory valve does not shut off all the way.put a valve shut off between motor and factory valve shut off ,heat wll go away

terry82, Are you refering to a manual heater hose line shut off? I have always been under the impression that if the coolant does not circulate through the heater core it would rot out. Have you had any experience with this happening?

Thanks!!!
