Fuel Pump Sleeve
Long story short....I'm finished with the fuel pump upgrade and out comes the dog in the garage with the rubber sleeve that goes on the outside of the pump....kind of funny at first. Certainly my fault, I didn't pay any attention to that after I put it all back together...I even remember looking at the old one on the old pump.
Anyways, what's the purpose of this sleeve? I'm going to take it all back apart but I'd prefer to actually enjoy the car this weekend for once. Please chime in as I can't find anything on the web.
I suspect it's a buffer against hit the tube that runs parallel with it. I used fuel hose and hose clamps when I installed my pump v. the rubber hose boot so I know the stationary.
It could serve another purpose to cool the pump buy soaking up fuel. I just want to ensure I'm not driving a fuel bomb without it for a few days.
