I know this is probably a stupid question, but I have not been able to locate where to put in the power steering fluid on my 75. The engine is all original, but looking into the car I can't seem to find anything that matches what people describe to me. Can somone explain where to find it? The only thing I found was a bottle under the fender on the drivers side, that is not labeled, but I don't want to assume that is for power steering. I don't have the owners manual yet, so i'm kind of afraid of making assumptions.
ludicrous,
Mr. G. is right, but sometimes the pump (and its inbuilt reservoir) is so far out from the engine (due to belt stretch or wrong belt) that it is hard to get the cap off because it is right under the alternator. You might have to loosen the pump mounting bolts and slide the pump closer to the engine in order to take the cap off. 9/16" sockets or wrenches are needed and don't forget to re-tension the belt and tighten the mounting bolts when you have finished.
I recommend that the first thing you buy is a workshop manual such as Haynes, and then you will learn about your car as you go along. Good luck!
Go slow filling that bugger up too, it doesn't hold as much as you would think. I overfilled it and had to go buy a plastic syringe to get some out. Have fun.
