Default dead spot on the pedal

When I step on the pedal, the car wants to pause before getting gas into the engine. Or, at least that what it feels like... It does it any any speed or rpm... Anybody knw if this is a gas/air issue, timing issue?

A lot of times stumble or hesitationit is a lean condition, could be an air leak at the base of the carb or in the vacuum lines or you could jet up a couple of sizes and see if that fixes it

My guess is a bad accelerator pump in the carburetor.

There are multiple possible causes. In order of occurance:

1. Bad/worn accelertor pump or bad accel pump carb circuit
2. Incorrect timing (retarded)
3. Inoperable vacuum advance
4. Lean carb (various causes ranging from incorrect jetting to low float or jammed power piston)

Good luck with the tuning!

Also dont forget about the accellerator cable itself, these stretch over time, and the slack can cause the poor throttle response you describe
