I am going to start repairing/ upgrading my interior soon, and I was thinking about just re-enforcing the old plastic pieces and wrapping them with that synthetic leather stuff. I know this will work really well for my door panels and allow me to use practically any door hardware I want but I'm not sure how everything will go back together when I get into the pillars and roof sections. Has anyone ever tried any thing like this before and can you give me any pointers on working my interior in that fashion? I'm not sure if the normal upholstery glue will properly adhere to the plastic pieces even after they have been cleaned and sanded, and I'm iffy about how everything will line up with the extra thickness from the upholstery. I don't really want to just buy new plastic paneling, I believe that it would look and feel realy cool this way.

There is a product that works very well it"s called HH-66 vinyl cement found at ulpholstery supply stores. It is made by R-H products co.inc , acton,Mass. 01720 ph (978) 897-8000. This is a solvent borne vinyl to vinyl cement. I was given a solvent cleaning tank and I filled it with 8 gallons of brand x all purpose cleaner (like 409) 4 cups laundry soap, half box cascade dish wash powder,4lbs tsp.1/2 bottle dawn and 12 gallons water. put plastic parts in there cleans them complete no nothing.over time the interior get every product known to shine it up.These products contain silicone, parifin wax, oils of all kinds etc.One soaking over night and its clean.... also removes paint off parts Ilove it no toxic fumes and after it gets dark black and soupy I flush it down the toilet . cleans every thing
