So I've decided to keep the vette and have it painted a dark blue... While thats going on I also want to throw the flip-up headlights back in. I have the lights, and the actual assembly that flips up but no motors (or whatever is used). What will I need to get them working again? Thanks
Dragon , your lights are vacuum operated, there are supposed to be two large actuators, kind of hard to describe but basically they look like giant vacuum advance cannisters, they have a rod connected to the daiphram in the cannister that actuates the headlamp.
There is a bunch of little parts and yards of hoses. But if you can find a good diagram it really isnt that big a deal to put it all together and make it work. Troubleshooting a faulty system is harder than making a new one.
When I bought mine the headlights were a tad slow :mad which really bugged me so I got ahold of the assembly manual for my year, made sure all the parts were there and hoses properly routed (along with vac checks on each section) and bought a troubleshooting guide from Eckler's (part #33866) and went to work. In less than an afternoon things were back to par. My lights open quickly together and they'll cut your fingers off when they close. :D . Very happy with them
