Default Rebuilt Headlamp Assemblies

Does anyone have pics on their rebuilt headlamp assemblies? I was wondering about colors for one...... Also - is it worth a rebuilding kit? I was concerned that for example the aftermarket plastic sleeves would be made of cheaper plastic.... My plastic sleeves still look good, I am just having the "while I am at it" syndrome

Here's a shot of my left and right done and not done. I used high temp aluminum for body and springs, the rest is gloss black. I buffed the light trim rings even though you really can se them when the bezzel is installed.

I started sandblasting/painting parts last night. I used semi gloss for the lamp buckets and Flat for the other supports/brackets. I see where you got the silver look from and am leaning in that direction for the underside of the headlamp itself. But on the actuator support, I think it will be flat black

It's personal choice, once everything is assembled and installed you really can't see much of it. By the way the only parts I bought was a couple of the elongate bushings that for some reason were missing. Everything was cleaned painted and lubed, works like brand new with me sucking on the hose. Can't wait to see em work when the motor gets done.

yeah - personal choice pretty much - as I am not a purist. So what did you lube and with what?

I went to HiLo tonight and got clear paint, adhesion promoter, etching primer (which BTW is light green) and then the alumiinum. It is pretty neat what products are available in todays marketplace.

Last - On the actuator, I really do think its more appropriate to paint it black, because wouldn't that show from above being a aluminum color? Either way - I am glad I am taking the time and doing things in detail

Everything that moves with lithium grease. I painted the actuators black, they were replaced previously and were anodized and rusting. Eklers sells some chrome hats that would probably look good but will probably rust like so many of the dress up products do.

I didn't think about those chrome covers rusting - but I guess they could. I am trying to keep mine the original finish. I am not too concerned if those aren't perfect.
