Welcome. Remember, C3 drivers WAVE!!! Cruise and enjoy. Advice for a newbie if you haven't already considered these things:
order a reproduction onwer's manual. If your car came with the original (lucky you), store it out of the car and keep the repro in the storage area. Read through the onwer's manual and familiarize yourself with your Corvette.
order the assembly instruction manual (AIM) for '79. AIMs provide a wealth of information concerning how the car was assembled at St. Louis and are invaluable for restoration and general knowledge.
consider the purchase of one of the better tune up manuals since there are a lot of things you can do yourself on your '79.
DO NOT toy with the idea of doing a frame off restoration until you've driven the car for a while and sorted out what she may, or may not, need.
check out six or seven of the major Corvette aftermarket providers and pick three or four you like. I can recommend Eckler's, ZIP Products, and Corvette Central, but there are others out there.
Wow, the Welcome Wagon certainly goes full tilt here! Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'm just itchin' for the crappy weather to go away so I can get to it.
Welcome. As has been stated already, for vette owners, new or long timers, you will never find a more knowlegeable group in spot. Openly share your experiences and use your own judgement when reviewing the responses. You will find many opinions - often opposite, but always leaves you with personal choices to make your vette - YOURS.
Number one, we love pictures, so shoot some soon, learn how to post 'em and wait for the responses.
Number two, go up to the little tab marked "cp" (control panel) at the top of this page and enter as much information in your profile as you would like to publically share. I am always checking profiles to see if I might have a new neighbor with a vette. You are welcome to click on my name.
Welcome to the best Corvette site on the net Buy the AIM manual, set aside weekends for maintenance, and save your pennies becasue you'll need them, but it's worth it

I don't think you get flamed real bad here til you get to be an expert. Welcome to the madness.
Chilli,
Welcome, fellow Colonial. We sure whipped your **** at the Commonwealth Games last month, but here on the Forum, we are all equal in our love for our cars. Follow all of the other's suggestions, especially the AIM and also get a Workshop manual such as Haynes.
Buy a good quality set of tools and do get a set of line wrenches for brake lines, fuel lines, etc. Don't skimp on quality here or you'll regret it.
