I resently had truoble with my driver side window not going all the way up. I replaced a broken rivet on the top of the regulator and the outer window seal and the anti-rattle cushions and then noticed that the botttom of the regulator was loose and rattling. I saw an after market repair bracket in Mid-America and was wondering if anyone has used this to repair the regulator. I didn't have to remove the regulator on thre first fix but I think I will have to on this one.
I made one out of a piece of steel (a 8"x12" carpenter's square I bought at Lowes). It worked great until the gear stripped completely on the regulator & I replaced the whole shebang.
It takes some creative bending to get the angles right, but it's doable. Probably easier to buy the piece if you've got the time to wait.
Yes, you will have to remove the regulator... Have fun!
i did have to do a little grinding on the regulator due to
clearance issues it was easy though with the dremel
and wouldnt hesitate to use this method again if/when
the passengers side goes.
also treated the rust and then painted the regulator
while it was out.
