www.tpis.com does reprograming. Isn't an L98 a speed density system? You may want to look into incorporating a MAF sensor. The MAF system is better at adapting to changes.

DIY! You can never "buy" a correct chip for your car, all those generic chips sold by aprts houses are only a little modified from stock and someone programmig a chip from just getting the specs of the car...I don't think so.

Check out of moates' ostrich will work with your ECM.

Default Try jimsperformance.com

Try jimsperformance.com, once on the web site you'll be able to find his phone number. Lots of good TPI stuff there. I bought my ECM, wiring harness and chip from him. Very knowledgeable and very helpful. He'll be able to help you.

Try Fuel Injection Specialties in San Antonio, Mark on Hot Rod Lane in Mena, Ark or Fred Wright in Tulsa.

Thanks Pat, as I just sent jeff a note, I am rather reluctant to pay a commercial outfit some 200+ bux for a new chip, but just can't figger out what in hell is rong otherwise....I suspect the programming is/was set for EGR operation, and since I don't have one...well.....

the presence of what the computer thinks is too much O2 in the induction instead of intert gasses, makes for the lean mix, I suspect....

only happens when warm or weather is warm....cooler temps say 60f or lower, runs fine....UNTILL engine warms up....then upon tip in, the O2 gauge says lean to the point of engine misses....I gotta mash hell out of it to run, same thing at light throttle....

Buy an EPROM programmer and drop by www.diy-efi.org/gmecm for instructions on how to tune.

Jeff does outragous work, I am lucky enough to have him live ten minutes away. He made two trips over and burnt me about 6 times before it was right. A+++ guy.

I went through the same drill with my '90 IROC (sorry). changed the cam, bigger injectors, better cyl hds, headers, manifold, throttle body, EGR-delete, AIR-delete, etc. I tried a custom mail-order chip but quickly gave up. This whole exercise caused me to buy an el-cheapo used eBay laptop, and some free & some not-free software, and start burning my own chips. it's been worth it, although I had to learn some new technology along the way. I have the 127730 chip, with the $8D "mask". I'd agree this thread belongs in the C4 section. With my custom mail-order chip, I couldn't even back it out of the driveway, nor drive it around the block.

check out TunerPro, DataMaster, Flash-n-Burn, & thirdgen.org under DIY prom.
