I got the nozzle and check valve out of the choke side of the carb and one of the Holley Carb Rebuild papers( from corvette magazine.com) Im using says that if it is a DP then there is also one on the secondary side but on my Holley 4160 there is none.
which is correct? should there be a nozzle and check valve on my 4160 or not. tHIS CARB HAS BEEN APART BEFORE, there is a platic float in the secondary and the brass float in the primary, hmmmmm. I think some butcher worked on this carb.
Hope you can help,please

4160 carbs are not mechanical secondary double pumper carbs. 4160 is a vacuum secondary carb, and has only an accel pump on the primary side. For this reason, there is no accel pump discharge nozzle or checkvalve on the secondary side on a 4160. Give me your carb list number and I'll verify that.
Carbs with secondary metering plates instead of metering blocks use a plastic float on the secondary side and a brass float on the primary side. That's correct. You can't get a brass float to fit on the secondary side on a 4160.

LARS,
My list number 3310-2. So thic 4160 is a vacuum secondary and the vacuum housingthat is on it is what determines that I thought it was mechanical because there was no vacuum hose attached to it that I could find.
man, this is becoming an entire education for me. You should sit down and put all your carb knowledge in a book called"THE ONLY TRUE CARB BOOK" wish I knew 10% of what you know then I'd condsider myself a carb genius.
thanks a bunch, looking forward to meeting you some time
Rich
3310-2 is a 750 vacuum secondary carb model 4160. There is no vacuum hose on a vac sec carb.
Thanks Lars.
JUST GOES TO SHOW,"YOU CAN TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS"
SO IT DOESN'T USE A SQUIRTER ON THE SECONDARY SIDE. RIGHT?
Rich
boy I owe you a few.

Vacuum secondary carbs only have accelerator pumps on the primary side. Look at your secondary float bowl: there is no accel pump on it. Since there is no secondary side pump, there is little need for a secondary squirter...

you are again right, found that out last night reading some of the lit I got on rebuilding Holley carbs.
It's done now just have to put it on and see if I screwed it up more or if it runs any better. Have a great day.
BTW, Your Nova Looks awesome
I'm always amused by these calls for help from Lars. It's almost like Batman's Bat-light. Though in Lars' case, a beer-light might be more appropriate.
