rear plug

what size and type wrench do you use on diffentrial filler plug.Mine worked loose probally because somebody didn't have right tool

I use a 3/8 drive 12 point 3/4 inch socket on a long extension
with a ratchet handle. Some folks on the forum say its easier if
You remove right rear wheel but I have never found it necessary
to do it. Everyone on here seems to use a different wrench and
method so there will be many more answers.

12 point 3/4 socket is the way to go.

Well, I use an EIGHT point 5/8th" socket.

12" crescent wrench...although the differential was out of the car at the time

thanks ,i used 12 point socket but it seemed to slip when i tried to get it really tight .will try again

I find You have to keep the socket really square on the plug,or it will
slip. On My 79 the reason the plug was so loose,the thick red plastic
posi. tag had got up on to the thread area of the plug crosswise and
the plug seemed to be tight but was really only screwed in a couple of
threads.When plug is plum tight tag should be loose on plug.Now You
should be completely confused.
