My friend is a realtor and listed a house last night. The owner (woman) got the house and both vettes in the divorce.... The one I need the most help on is a 68 roadster. I called her last night and this is the story....it is in resto process. No engine or tranny. Body work done and in primer. Many new parts ready to go on such as new door panels, wiring harness' interior, etc. New wheels/tires. She wants 5K. I know I need to look good at this but just need to know soon (looking at it this eve) what you guys might think about the price. The other is a 65 coupe that runs, she wants 20K. I'd like to pick 'em both up for 15K if possible.
I am going through the same thing! She can have the house, she isn't getting the car, no how, no way!!I've already bought and moved into my new house and my '68 is tucked nicely inside the garage!I hate hearing stories like this!! What did the guy end up with, just his clothes??
Re: Need some quick help on pricing please (68shark)
Why is it that I can't seem to muster up too much sympathy for a woman who got the 68 project along with the house plus another vette ?? She wants $5k? I say let her keep the friggin project and complete it herself!! WTF??? If she were a widow, that would be different..... MJ
That reminds me - At Carlisle last year I was parked next to a guy with a fairly heavily modded 68. He asked me what I thought it was worth. I very carefully kind of hedged about how hard it is to realize $$ spent modding a vette... especially a 68.... don't want to insult anyone.... then he explains he will have to value it for a divorce settlement and is looking to lowball..... so I let him have the truth!! MJ
Re: Need some quick help on pricing please (MasterDave)
you guys are hard. he may have got busted doing the 14 year old babysitter. you never know about these things. sound like the car is a pretty good deal at 5 grand. for another 5 or so you could have a nice daily driver. i would think the parts would sell for more than that. take a look and lets us know, i would like to know what you find when you go to look at it. it just might be a diamond in the ruff than again it may be a brick. good luck robert
Re: Need some quick help on pricing please (The Wanderer)
Well, looked at 'em last night. The 68 has flares on all four corners. Looks like it was done correct tho (if that's possible) and IMO the body looks great and is ready for paint. The car is basically gutted inside and the top was down. Prolly 10+ marked boxes of parts inside with more outside and around. I did see new carpets, door panels, center console, etc. Lotsa parts laying around. No dash installed, but did see used gauges in boxes. I personally would not reassemble this one (I did a 64 like this and it took 3 yrs) , but some here have suggested selling it for parts. What parts are unique to the 68? Thanks guys...
