Default My '82 Project - One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

I made some progress tonight. Welded in the body mount section of the cage.

Donor section prepped and ready to go in.

Clamped for welding.

Good full penetration stitch welds. This is the back side.

Done.

Now for the step backwards. Found some more work at the passenger side #2 mount.

I knew this was there, but didn't realize how bad it was until I started picking at it.

I started picking at it because I found this by accident.

Seems water was leaking in and being held in this area just under the door hinge. Oh well, just some more work to do. Does anybody have good detail pics of how these glass pieces come apart?

Thank you Sly.

Felt ambitious this morning so I tore into that #2 mount area.

Removing the wheel well panel.

Removing a good size piece of glass in one assembly. Good access now.

Came out in one nice piece which will make it easy to reinstall.

Yikes!

Cutting off and removing the floor panel extension.

This section of the rocker channel will be cut out. Then the bottom of the door post can be repaired from underneath. The #1 mount horn looks good.

Thats what I need to do,did you get the mount off a donor or do they sell those?
Seeing your pix makes me want to get out there and start on that myself. Keep us updated with more pix .

The section of cage for the #3 mount cam from a donor. I don't have parts yet for the #2 mount. It was kind of a suprise as of a couple of days ago. Hopefully I can find a donor for that too. Otherwise I'll just fab my own parts. Its all pretty much square for the #2 mount, unlike the #3 where there are some odd angles.
