Last summer I replaced the clutch with a centerforce. I ran out of nice weather, and finished putting it together in the spring (unheated garage doesn't get used much in winter). I waited until it was about +5C before I tried to start it.
It turned over slightly and jammed. I couldn't budge the engine at all. After much checking, I finally decided to pull the engine. I took off the heads and oil pan to check for internal damage; nothing...
It turns out the flywheel was put on wrong. The dowel pin on the crank got pushed in and when it turned over a slightly, it jameed into the block. Luckily nothing was damaged and I was able to build a tool to press the pin back.
A stupid little mistake that caused a pile of extra work...
