Saturday, I replaced front calipers and pads on my 82. Car brakes fine but right front makes grinding noice and appears to be digging in to the rotor. Haven't pulled wheels yet but am lost. Simple, fixed, dual piston caliper about as easy as it gets. The caliper was leaking on this side and did not appear to be working at all. You could see the leaking calliper and the car pulled badly. Any suggestions, what am I missing????
Sounds like a caliper piston hanging out....possible...jack up that wheel, apply brakes, then see if you can spin that wheel...if it's tight or won't turn, a piston is out...

at least you didn't back the car out of the garage with the hood up.....that happened to a guy right after a paint job...he was paying too much attention to make sure he didn't hit the side of the garage....

Many years ago when I worked in a body shop, we had just finished painting a 69 Chevelle and when my boss backed the car out of the shop he had the drivers door open just enough to hit the garage door opening and bent the door in half. I couldn't laugh in front of him but I was laughing on the inside because this guy thought he could do no wrong.
ER ugh, you didnt put the pads on backwards did ya?
And we have a winner!!!!!
Sometimes it is the most basic things that we need to check first.
61loub, thanks for posting back what the solution to the problem was. Too many times we ask for help, or requests, and then never post what the solution was.
