That was a dream car of mine that was a concept car Pontiac in the 60s with a 326 4bbl Pontiac V8. GM scrapped because it was to close in appearance to the Corvette, AL.

Tim, have you ever had the drive's side dash out of your car? I'm having a problem on mine. I don't want to damage anything installing my lower left side dash so I thought I could install the dash than the column, well the column will not fit past the dash because of the column mounting bracket, AL.

yup
the last time i had to get in there was to sort out the vacuum hose routing.
pulled the wheel, at the screws not the hub ( though i suppose it doesnt matter, then dropped the column to get at the goods, made it alot easier, if you want to do the extra step, pull the seat out as well fro maximum room to maneuver.
but let me understand you situation... is the colum completely removed, or installed and you want it out of the way ??
if installed, are you having trouble getting the lower dash in place?
There are three components to mounting the colum
1 the main bracket,
2 the support, and
3. brace on the colum
which is in place?
Pics?
Im off today, so ill be around

Tim, There are no seats in the car. My problem is I would like to to the lower dash install then install the steering column. The problem is the steering column bracket hit the open in the center opening of the lower dash. It looks like I can trim some off the opening because the lower column cover will cover that, AL.

well you should have to trimm anything at all, its more a question of position ans sequence, it is possible to send me a pic of how it gets stuck?
It would be nice just to pull the lower dash out at the bottom to clear the column brackets but once the dash is in place there isn't any pulling the bottom with breaking something and that isn't not going to happen, AL.

Tim, okay. I will post a picture when I get back out there tomarrow. AL.
How do you put the speedo and tach in with the center console installed? I've always followed he manual which indicates that the LH speedo dash pad goes in first installed with all of the cables and wiring installed. The center console goes in next, and finally the passenger side dash pad.
I finished the front end today and will get back to the left lower dash tomarrow. Wish me luck! I may need to trim part of the lower dash (the steering column middle cut out) to clear the column (this part doesn't show-behind the lower column cover). It looks as if they didn't trim a much at the column opening at the steering column cut out, AL.
