Default Headlight switch vacuum hose question

I am replacing the headlight switch since the dash lights didn't work. Does it matter which vacuum hose goes to the ports on the switch? One hose was loose when I pulled the switch out, and didn't pay attention to which port gets which hose.

Yes I think it matters. I think you can find a diagram at www.corvettefaq.com

yes, they have to be in the proper location. On my 77 the port closest to the dash is the vacumm from the engine. An easy test is to start the engine and see if you can hear a vacumm leak at the switch when the lights are turned off. If you can, they are crossed.

I have been looking at two different hose diagrams, from links I found here in the forum. They both show the hose closest to the firewall going to manifold vacuum, and the one closest to dash to the overide switch. While I am looking at it, the old swtich had 8 wires, including the one for dash/courtesy lights. The new one has 7, missing the one that is labeled #7 on old switch. Does it matter? Do the replacements eliminate the one wire?

Also, dash lights now work fine, but still no courtesy lights, from door switch or light switch.

Default Still looking for suggestions

Can anyone tell me where to look to get the courtesy lights working? Also, is the light switch right?
