Let me tell you my plan on installing body mounts, and ya'll tell me if this will work, or if I need to try something else. I plan on raising the car on a lift, loosening (or probably cutting the bolts) and then putting a jack stand up underneath the body on one side and trying to lift it three or four inches. Install the bolts, and then do the other side. Will this work? Do you have any other suggestions which would make this easier. I would like to do this over the weekend. Thanks
You can only lift the body 1" - 1 1/2" - if you lift more you have to disconnect the brakelines, ground straps, steering column ...
I did mine on jackstands, took about a week (worked only 2-3 hrs per day). You'll likely find the bolts rusted and the nuts spinning on one or two mounts.... this is not a quick weekend job
Redbad1979 gave me good advice about raising the body one inch on one side to replace the mounts. I was concerned about damaging my nice paint with the steel inner bumpers. In the process of removing the mounts my #3 nut started to turn at the very end. I came up with a way to stop the nut from turning without cutting the fiberglass and getting the bolt out.
