Default 1st Time using Timing light need quick answer.

Got a new timing light and I want to check timing.

Connect the Inductive Clip to the #1 wire. OK

Connect the Black Clip to the engine block. OK

Connect the Red Clip to the Positive Battery Terminal. NOT OK
Battery is behind the drivers seat.

Where should I attach the Red Clip????

Is a Corvette a 12V Positive ground system????

Quick help.

Thanks

Dang - I finally knew an answer to one and you answered it yourself!

Good job!

What did you find out about the timing; is it good?

The horn relay is another option for a hot connection. Your other 2 wires sound like they're in the right place.

How is your timing?

My timing light connections. Just be sure when you connect to the positive, do not accidently let the clip come into contact with the alternator case at the same time.

BTW, I have reclocked my alternator so my connections will be in a different place than yours. Just be sure to get on ground connection and positive on the alternator.

I use the windshield washer conections right on the front and have plastic all around so it won't ground out. Good place to pick up + power.

Timing is OK.. 10 degrees @ 800 rpms.

I had some bubba work on the car this week and he left a rag in the intake manifold. So when I started the car, (Oh I mean bubba) it sucked the rag in to cylinder #8. He had to take the intake and rockers off to get it out. To make a long story short cleaned the intake while it was off and wipe off the timing reference marks. It’s been a long weekend.

I did that once, and had to replace the starter wiring harnes. I am leaning the hard way.
