To remove the headlamp switch ****, you have to do the following:
1. disconnect the battery pos. connector
2. pull the switch out to the ON position
3. reach up underneath the dash panel to the switch body
4. feel around for a spring-loaded button (about 1/4" diameter) and press it inward (toward the switch body)
5. remove the **** and shaft.

To reinstall it, simply put the shaft in the hole and push it in.

Also if you want to get the headlight switch out so that you can take off the bezel that says light on it, after you remove the **** it has a securing screw for the switch that has 2 indentions on it that you will have to take out. I just use needle nose pliers in the indentions and twist it out.

I'd like to see some pics of what it looks like after install. I thought about going this way but decided on going with tweed since the rest of my int was in pretty bad shape. Check out my threads: Cheap fix for a cracked dash and Cheap fix for a cracked dash part 2. Sorry dont know how to link them but you can use the search function

I would be curious to see what you dash cap looks like after it is installed. There have been mixed opinions about those caps here on the forum. I bought one from Palco industries and when I dry fit it, it didn't seem to fit the wiper bezel very well. I eventually returned it because I got a good deal for a real dash here on the forum.
Post some pics when finished

A new $500 dash looks better, but my $99 cap sure looks 100 times better than my old cracked dash. It does take a tiny bit of trimming around the glove box and such, but I am okay with it. I left it right out-of-the-box black, I just hit it with a little bit of Armorial from time to time.

Thanks.
