I recently installed a ZZ355 W/385 FB heads and the "hot cam" in a '70 Roadster and had no problem with emissions and it rungreat and pulls really hard. Nothing but smiles and suprised faces.

Go with the LT5. Just some things to think about:

Engine mounts. Fabricate since I don't believe they are the same.
ZF transmission. Big sucker. Be prepared for crossmeber fabrication and cutting the floorpan for clearance.
Accessory drive. May not clear front crossmember. Don't think stock accessories will work with the LT5. May need to notch crossmeber.
PS will need custom hoses to use LT5 pump with stock control valve.

Just a few of the issues. Go in with your eyes open but I say GO FOR IT! It will be one really radical C3.

Yeah dropping the LT5 in will not be a weekend project indeed.

Plan Plan Plan!

I think the whole crew here would love to see a update on the project as you progress along.

I heard the trans will be a major biatch to shoehorn in, and like others said will require some fabricated alterations to get it going.

It will be different, but on a technical scale,... I would of went with the ZZ and a 700r due to the complexity of what you are about to encounter will/has discouraged a few ppl I bet.

I don't know but it is sitting in my garage now :D. I got everything that went with the engine, tranny and gears. Right now I just want it to be faster than it is and by fast I don't mean Merlin fast. My uncle and I are starting the project next weekend. I will take many pictures and try to get a scanner soon so you guys can see the pains and pleasures of installing it.

Did you get the wiring harness & computer?

Those items alone can run more than you paid for the engine/trans
