Default C3 rim question

I have a 1975 C3 with the stock steel rims, 8" wide I think. Anyway, I like the American Racing Torq Thrust 17" rims. However the only 17" they offer for my car is 8" wide. I would like to go a little bigger in the back, say the 9 1/2 and keep 8 wide in the front. If I'm going to get new rims I wanted to go wider in the back than the factory rims.
I defiantly do not want the rim hanging out of the side of the car; it must fit into the tire well.

Will I have any trouble getting 9 1/2 into my car?
Will I have to do anything to the spedo so that it shows my MPH properly?

Anything else I should know?
Thanks

No problem with a 9.5. I have a 18X10 in the rear with a 5.5 backspacing and it all fits inside the wheel well. 17X8 in the front with a 4 inch backspacing. running 275 40 18 tire in the rear.

Check out this thread for some pictures of how the rims fit http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ighlight=18X10
