hey guys,
my '73 350 loses about a quart every 400mls, and i've been considering engine replacement.. now this thread comes up and makes me wonder.
when i bought the car just a year ago i replaced all the plugs, and had the carb rebuilt, but just 9mos into daily drivin i replaced all plugs again and noticed #2 heavy oil buildup and some on #4, (two right front) but the rest all clean. it dosen't have visable smoke unless i put my foot in it. no substantial oil leaks on the floor of the garage.
ideas?
should i pop the top and check the intake??
is high oil consumption normal on these cars???

Scott..I have two vettes..some years ago my 78 was oil fouling no#8 spark plug...I like to went nuts tracking it down,as it would take 600-800 miles to foul out...finally,I pulled intake, and sure enough, the gasket had failed on that side causing internal oil leakage...no smoke while driving either.none...
