As far as just going with manual steering, I used to have a '65 Mustang coupe with manual steering. Even on those skinny little '60s tires, parking that thing was a good arm workout.
Yeah, my girl will drive it sometimes so I think I will just stick with PS and try to tighten it up as much as I can with the Jeep box. I just got word back from CorvetteSteering.com, they want $700 for the kit, and DO NOT alter boxes that are not theirs.

Try searching for "jeep box" and "pitman arm" - Norval had a great writeup posted with pictures of how he did his. It may be in the archives now. Another member, S Car Go said he heated his Jeep pitman up with an Oxy/Acetylene torch until it glowed red, then beat it around to match the Corvette pitman geometry.
