'68 thru '72 Corvettes had fiberoptic lines run from each external light bulb to the cockpit shifter plate...to show which lights were working properly. [No light....bad bulb.]
Are the plastic pieces (where the fibreoptic lines are inserted) in good shape? I have one with part of the receptacle cracked off and it has low light as well. I've not had any problem with the others.

That's cool, but seems like it'd be a hassle to work on.
can you get the crimp on ends somewhere? I'm working on a 69 where I got all but one of the fiber opics to work because someone cut the end off, the rest wasn't working due to overspray and dirt

Might also be able to salvage parts from 80's-90's Buicks and Cadillacs.
These might be the larger diameter fibers.
here's a pic of the optics location in my 89 Buick Park Ave ... block of indicators in the center of upper dash.
Also, a block is at the top of the rear window - views rear light operation in rear view mirror. http://NHvette.com/ftp/in/Buick_interior.jpg
