'78 wiper controller questions
I have a couple questions an the wiper controller. On my '78 with delay wipers, pretty much since I bought my car six months ago, I have noticed a clicking sound coming from behind the radio whenever I use the wiper switch. It has gotten progressively worse, and now even clicks on its own every once in a while, like when the car hits a bump in the road. It sounds like a relay, but on my wiring diagram it states there is a 'controller' somewhere in the console.
Do these things make clicking sounds when they go bad? However, the wipers work fine. I know the old saying 'don't fix it if it ain't broke', but it is getting real annoying listening to the thing clicking. Especially when someone is riding with me and I have to explain 'I'm not real sure what the heck that noise is' to everyone.
Where can they be bought? I checked ecklers, corvette america, rock auto and no one has a part that corresponds with the GM part number previously posted, 14005004 . I don't even see a 'wiper controller' listed anywhere.
What all do I have to remove to get to the controller? console, radio, instrument bezel?

they have been showing up on ebay for a while now. just search for it. not certain of the years of application, but i bought one for my 78 pace car which is about to have the entire interior removed and restored back to the walls. i figure as long as i have everything out of it, i am going to try to replace as much of the "electronics" as possible so i don;t have to (hopefully) fool with any of it again for a long time.
