Default Progress on 81 Restomod

Got front end componrnts all cleaned up and mostly painted. Tomorrow evening finish that part and start re-assy on the spindals, brakes, steering etc.
I got a $200 sand blast cabinet off ebay a while back, got to tell you, you NEED one of these things if your thinking about doing this kind of stuff, well worth the $$
My Press should be in monday or tuesday, so ripping the TAs apart then, more sand blasting. Another week or two and I'll have it back on the floor.
Anyone want pics?

OK< here is where I am so far;
Here is front springs and upper control arms all cleaned up and painted, still need to drill out the rivit holes for the new bolts for the ball joints

Lower Control Arms cleaned up, waiting on my press to get here so I can finish the disasembly and straighten the shaft on the left one.

Calipers cleaned and painted and ready for the VBP O-ring kits

Upper Control Arm shafts, front caliper mount brackets, steering arms and Front Dust shields, I kinda like the gold

Front Hubs and spindels

Upper Ball Joints, TA Yokes, and Relay Rod

LONG way to go, but progressing. I may lose this whole week because of the hurricane, But I'll get there
Its all got to go back on here somewhere

You don't need a press to get the lower a arm bushings out. Unscrew the cap ends, and beat the other end in with a big hammer, and then down and out. Piece of cake.

Nice work sixfooter. A blast cabnet is a great tool to have.
In the second picture it looks like you have a bent shaft on the left lower control arm.

No, that's a really bad way to do it. Hit the flange on the outside with a cold chisel (alternating from side to side of the shell) - it will side right out without having to beat on the cross shaft.

Let me explain a bit more. Mine had poly bushings. I removed the bushing, the pulled the shaft up out of the way and tied it off. I was in no way touching the shaft when beating the bushings out. I assume this would be a problem with rubber bushings.

The flange it pretty tight against the side of the side, I tried the air hammer, but wasn't going to work very well. Thats why I am waiting on the press. I need it to straighten the shaft anyway. Top ones came out NP with air hammer
