You need to call the person who's name is on the title in Ohio and find out what's going on. Make sure the stories match.

It's likely your Penn "owner" never registered the car in PA because he didn't want to pay his state sales taxes.

Regardless, don't purchase the car until the owner has a title in his name or you'll be in for a goose chase.

Or, you could purchase the car and try to register it in your state as a "lost title" vehicle using a bill of sale. Since we're talking two or three states involved here, this could get tricky as well.

But again, if it were me, I'd ask the seller for a clean title. Offer to pay half his state sales tax or something.

As far as cash,..nothing wrong with a cash transaction,..just use the usual caution.

And love your choice of 1973,..my favorite Vette since I saw one new in 1972.

Good luck!

I agree completely with the above. Had to do the goose-chase for more than 6 months, before a nice guy at DMV finally took pity on me, and helped me get the title done... And this was all in one state, and one TOWN....

If the title isn't clean, you are in for a long and painful journey... Even if you succeed, it won't be pretty... JMHO.

This goes on all the time and if the person with the car now did not put his name on the title and you put yours on it goes smooth but not legal. Let the Ohio seller know what is going on as it can get ugly if the stories don't match. The present owner wants to not pay sales tax. I have a 73 coupe for sale and the title is in my name.

Hmmm
Strange site if its supposed to be an authentic 73'
It shows a 73' with a chrome shifter ball and what is most bizaare is that it shows both MPH and KPH on the speedometer.

OOPS........... not an original, my fault for looking to close and not reading enough..
OOPS again, the wheels should have been a dead give away......... a most subtle detail for only the elete of trained eyes....
