HI - 69 big block 427
we replaced the rear springs several months ago and now the front is low and lights hit the ground - so we are replacing front coil springs when we look in there we see rubber cushions on the bottom. looked all over and made calls - been told cant buy any and they dont belong there. our thought is the car may have been a small block before the 427 was installed and cushions were put in to compensate for the extra weight.
so the question is 3 fold - do the cushions belong there? if so where can we buy some? if we cant find any should we use the old ones -
any help would be appreciated
Somebody had this problem before you and installed the buffers to get some more ride height. I agree with the first response buy big block springs and install WITHOUT the buffers.
those are called "air conditioning spacers" not exactly Corvette specific but they are (or were) available from GM, Mr. gasket sells them also....ever watch a NASCAR race?? on TV they are known as "spring rubbers" the stock car guys just cut them and use them differently.
