I carefully did two layers of dynomat extreme. I did the entire interior, doors and Tee roofs taking my time and a double layer and I was not impressed......
Norval, I wonder if your sound deadner is ineffective due to the sound transmitted into your cabin by the roll cage?
It has a higher R heat barrier value than stuff like refletix. My main concern is that my car already has the foil-bubble-foil stuff that was done 10 years ago and 99% of the bubbles are popped and therefore has greatly lost its heat effectiveness. I am hoping that this foil-foam-foil stuff lasts a lot longer as the foam to retain is form/structure better than bubble wrap. Also I see a few other forum members recommended this stuff which is also a 1/4" thick. I had been seriously considering going with Nuprene stuff, but this stuff seems it is like nuprene wrapped on both sides with foil wrap? The web site says it also reduce sound by 19db's so I am hoping that this kills 2 birds with one stone. I am not looking for something dead quiet, but a little more solid sounding as it is a convert and I get far more wind noise than I ever will get interior noise from vibrations through the cabin from cruising on the highway. I will let you all know how it works out in about 2 months as we are doing some other items to the car as it makes its way towards the resto-mod transformation....
I managed to...well I should say, Joanne managed to install 2- 36 sq. ft boxes, plus 3 extra pieces for the doors. Needless to say, every square inch is Dynamated. Bit expensive, but well worth it!!! I have no heat problem here (72 LT-1).
I did the same on mine. No heat issues and very quiet inside
Never used it. I've been in cars with Dynamat so I knew what the result would be, I have tried allturnitive products before and I just end up buying things twice, and I did not want to take the interior out again, becasue I wasn't happy with the other product.
My dad always said, "That my boy, doing it the hard way". He was right!
I'm going shoppping for something at Home Depot today. I'm not ready to redo my interior, but I need to quiten this exhuast some. I just need to cover my hatch area now. I'll try what's on the shelf, and change it out later if it sucks.
What can be done to quiten the roll bar. I was thinking maybe drill a couple of holes and fill it with expanding foam.
Nothing at Home Depot. I stopped at my local car stereo installer. He had something "much better than Dynomat". $20 for two 1ft square pieces. I guess 50sq ft would be $500.
Still looking. I like the price of Fatmat.

thats where most of your noise comes from. The muffler pipes are
pretty close to them, and the rear compartment area needs to be double
up in sound deadener, as the mufflers are right next to it. I plan on using neoprene on top of DYNAMAT for a super super quiet cabin
MEGALADON: I'm looking at doing something just like that to my 73. Any more updates on the progress? I'm curious how much time you spent taking everything out and prepping to lay down the dynamat. Was that two boxes of the Dynamat Bulk Pak? I am wondering how many square feet was used.
Looks great! Can't wait to hear what the difference is like.

To be honest its a little more than 2 bulk packs, about 2 1/2.
The rear took me about a month to complete. If you work it non stop
you looking at about 8 hours. It looks like it just lays on there and
your done, but laying dynamat sucks and it is a lot of work and cutting
and fitting and cutting and shaping. Looks easy. No updates yet. I will
be laid up for a while. I have not touch the vette in 3 month .
I will double the dynamat in the rear compartment as thats where most of the noise comes from.

Its taking me longer because I did the LT1 6/speed swap in mine.
I figure I pull the dash and everthing to do the brake/clutch pedal swap
and while I was at it, do the dynamat to. . Worked out well
