Hi guys, I am pulling the cam out of my '78 Corvette and it will only come out about 3 lobes and stops. No matter which way I turn it.....won't come out any further. I can feel some resistance and gas keeps shooting out of the line. Does the fuel pump have to come out too? Thanks in advance Terry1955
Yes, the pump has to be removed, it is driven by the camshaft.... I'm surprised you got the cam out that far with the pump and pump-pushrod in place....

when you pull the pump, there is a steel shaft that will slide out, be ready to catch it, and dont let it get damaged or lose it
If you don't have a dozer, you can just drive it out the other side using a cut off shovel handle and a sledge. Cut a hole in the firewall if you are doing it while the engine is still in the car.
If you find that it does not go easily you just need a bigger hammer.
