427 runs really rich
Folks, I have a 69 with a 427/390 hp AT, with a qjet. The engine runs really rich, the plugs are BLACK and loads up at idle and stalls. I have to 2 foot drive and when I start off lots of black smoke from the pipes. I checked the choke and is fully opened. It has a re-built carb. This all started just after I replaced the dist points with the crane cams XR-i Points To Electronic Ignition kit. Co-incedence? or is there something else going on.

Of course timing can be an issue as well
