Default 1969 Reverse Light Switch Location?

I have a 1969 L71 4 speed manual... the reverse light have never work as long as I had the car. I am pretty sure it is the Switch, but I have no idea where to find it... I checked on the shifter (and broke the fiber optic lense in the process), I checked all over the the transmission and the shifting linkage... I know what the part looks like, but I can't find it. Can anyone help?

I believe you should find it on the tail shaft of the trans, near the reverse trans lever. That's where most are.

Automatics are under the console, part of the wiring harness to the shifter. Chuck

Ok so I've checked all around the transmission... removed the heat insulation so I can make sure nothing was underneath it. I see nothing on or aorund the transminssion that resembles wires, switches, or switch mounthing bracket. Can someone tell me where the wires come from so maybe I can find where it was cut?

Once I know wher the wiring is and how to get it back to the transmission area I can buy the switch and other related hardware. It would also be nice to know where the wiring is, so I can test it.

Any suggestions, descriptions, or diagrams would be apprecitated.

Default Bracket, switch and rod

There should be a bracket that is bolted to the tail housing. The switch assembly is mounted to the bracket and a small rod connects to the switch from the reverse arm on the transmission.

Ok thanks...

I see no wires anywhere near the tranny... where does the wires come from, so maybe I can find it and string it back to the tranny area.

The wire plug is just to the right of the brake booster. The switch has a pig tail about 2' long.
