Ok friends

Grease the speedometer cable and or replace it. It may be dry and is starting to bind inside the casing!
If you have cruise control, take it loose from there and pull the cable out and as you feed it back in.. put grease on the cable. If you do not have cruise, you will need to pull the cable off the back of the speedo and pull it through the firewall and then grease.
Re: ??? speed odometer is bouncing around??? (bbryant200)
Have found bouncing speedometers to be due to the cruise control
transducer mechanisim binding. To check for this, remove the lower
speedometer cable at the cruise control transducer. Turn the fitting
on the transducer where the cable attaches. If there is a lot of
resistance, then the transducer needs replacing.
Rebuilt transducers can be ordered from Napa and Parts Advance.
Also available from many of the corvette suppliers.

Mine did the exact same thing for a few months, and then quit working all together. Trust me, it IS the spedo cable. Either grease yours or get a new one. I suggest going ahead and getting a new one because they're not that expensive. I guarantee it will fix the problem. And since you dont have CC, it will be even easier!
Good luck. And don't worry, the money spending is a continuous process. What a money pit. My car was running perfectly, and all of a sudden today the tranny wont go past 1st. I'm scared poopieless and don't have money to get it fixed. I only hope it's not the tranny :U
