I drove my stock 80 to work today and the choke light stayed on the whole trip (about 10 miles) the last mile it was bogging down and smoking. I needed to get there so I didn't stop. Now it won't start , I have the smell of gas everywhere and there is gas laying on the manifold. How do I check the choke or make it go off ? How can I start a flooded car ? I have about 72 ,000 miles on it and have never had a problem with it before.
If the choke is stuck on... manually disengauge it and disconnect it so it won't go back on.
Before trying to start the car again, sop up the gas with a rag. We dont want you burning your car up.
To start it while flooded... turn the ignition while holding the gas petal to the floor... It will smoke while burning the excess gas, but should run fine after.
I just had it running but it stalled out . I had to put the gas pedal the whole way to the floor and when I let off it stalled. Now I have gas everywhere again.
