I want to replace my distributor, it is the original one on my '70 small block.
I basically want the following:
- magnetic pickup
- vac advance
- mech advance
- corvette tach drive
- no extra wires required
- would prefer it to fit under the original ignition sheilding too
I know you can get kits to convert existing distributors to magnetic pickup but I would prefer to buy a complete new dist and just store my original.
I basically want a good reliable mag pickup dissy with no extra wires and no external controller required that will drop in and connect just like my original.

You're not going to get any better performance in a street-driven vehicle than a well set up stock distributor. The only exception I have found is the MSD system and MSD distributor, but it involves a non-stock appearance and extra wires. If you want some better performance in a near-stock appearing setup, consider rebuilding your stock unit, installing a good set of points (like the Echlin CS786) and using it to trigger an MSD-6AL box with a good coil. The points will last forever, it's very reliable, and you get outstanding performance.
